THE CLINICAL CHALLENGE
Standard aligner education is often provided by manufacturers, focusing heavily on digital simulations that look perfect on a screen. However, when the case lands in the chair, the biology often doesn't align with the virtual plan. The result is a cycle of non-tracking trays and unexpected refinements.

The #1 reason GPs stop offering aligners isn’t clinical difficulty—it’s the uncertainty that comes when a case goes sideways and not having a clear protocol to prevent it.
THE SOLUTION
In this training, Dr. Drew Ferris, one of the nation’s top clear aligner providers, will present a systematic approach to clear aligner case selection and risk assessment. Dr. Ferris will share his framework to help general practitioners categorize cases based on predictability and complexity before treatment begins.
WHY LEARN FROM AN ORTHODONTIST
Most clear aligner education for GPs is taught by other GPs or by aligner manufacturers. Very few orthodontists — and almost none among the country's top aligner providers — are willing to teach general dentists how to think like a specialist.

Dr. Ferris is the exception. As a practicing orthodontist and one of the highest-volume clear aligner providers in the United States, he brings the diagnostic rigor of specialty training together with a clear belief: with the right framework, GPs can deliver excellent aligner outcomes on the right cases.
CLINICAL TOPICS COVERED
  • The Ferris Case Selection Framework: Five critical questions every dentist should ask before starting aligners.
  • Why Case Selection Matters: The primary reasons GP aligner cases fail and how to understand biological limits before starting treatment.
  • The Ideal GP Case: Identifying predictable outcomes in mild-to-moderate crowding, spacing, minor relapse, and pre-restorative alignment.
  • Red Flag Cases: How to recognize cases involving severe rotations, skeletal discrepancies, or vertical problems that may exceed the GP scope when you are starting out.
  • The "Software Trap": Understanding why 3D simulations can be misleading and how to align your plan with clinical reality.
