Composite resin veneers are an excellent alternative to porcelain veneers for the esthetic and functional rehabilitation of the smile. Among their benefits are the minimal invasiveness and lifelikeness associated with the procedure. Further, the operator can custom-create the form and color most suitable for the patient's needs without using dental laboratories, which makes composite veneers all the more cost-effective. With an estimated life span of over ten years, this treatment modality magnifies the treatment choices offered by a contemporary dental practice, especially for teenagers and young adults.
Composite veneers can be executed in two modalities: the direct, orthodox approach and the direct-indirect approach. The former and more widely known technique entails bonding composite layers directly on the tooth substrate, followed by intraoral finishing and polishing. In the latter technique, the composite is applied on an unetched tooth substrate, light-activated, removed, finished, polished extraorally, and then indirectly bonded.
This webinar will introduce and discuss the direct and direct-indirect composite veneers, pointing out the raves and rants of both techniques with scientific data and clinical cases to help compare the two restorative possibilities.
