This knowledge will inform clinical decision-making and enable confident communication with patients and physician colleagues about the rationale for treatment recommendations.
MODULE 3: Screening Tools - Keeping it Simple
Module 3: Screening Tools - Keeping it Simple teaches practical, efficient methods for identifying patients who may have sleep-related breathing disorders. This module emphasizes streamlined workflows that can be easily implemented in any dental practice without disrupting patient flow. The goal is to develop a systematic approach to screening that identifies at-risk patients who should be referred for definitive diagnosis.

Dental Sleep Medicine Members Will Learn:
1. How to integrate simple screening questions into your existing medical history review
2. Which validated screening questionnaires are most effective for dental practice settings
3. How to recognize visual airway indicators during routine dental examinations
4. The role of photography and basic airway measurements in screening
5. How to communicate screening findings to patients without diagnosing sleep apnea
6. How to develop verbal skills that encourage patients to pursue medical evaluation and diagnosis

By the end of "Module #3: Screening Tools - Keeping it Simple," members will be able to efficiently identify patients at risk for sleep-related breathing disorders using simple, time-effective screening methods. This module provides the tools to make airway screening a routine part of every patient examination, creating opportunities to help more patients while growing your practice.
MODULE 4: Data Collection (Only After Diagnosis)
Module 4: Data Collection (Only After Diagnosis) is a critical module that teaches dentists how to gather the comprehensive information necessary for effective treatment planning once a patient has received a medical diagnosis of obstructive sleep apnea. This module emphasizes the importance of working within the medical-dental collaboration model and collecting data that will guide appliance selection and treatment outcomes.

Dental Sleep Medicine Members Will Learn:
1. Why dentists screen but physicians diagnose, and how to work effectively within this framework
2. What diagnostic information to request from the sleep physician including sleep study data and AHI measurements
3. How to perform a comprehensive intraoral and airway examination specific to oral appliance therapy
4. Which dental records are essential for oral appliance fabrication and treatment planning
5. How to assess patient factors that may affect oral appliance success including TMJ health, dental status, and tongue position
6. How to communicate the value of comprehensive data collection to patients and develop appropriate fees for consultation appointments

By the end of "Module #4: Data Collection (Only After Diagnosis)," members will understand the critical distinction between screening and diagnosis, and will be confident in gathering the comprehensive data needed to make informed treatment decisions. This module reinforces the medico-legal framework while teaching practical data collection workflows.
MODULE 5: Treatment Planning - Choices Based On The Data
Module 5: Treatment Planning - Choices Based On The Data teaches a systematic approach to selecting appropriate interventions for each patient based on their unique anatomical, functional, and behavioral characteristics. This module moves beyond a one-size-fits-all approach and teaches how to match interventions to individual patient needs and sleep study findings.

Dental Sleep Medicine Members Will Learn:
1. How to interpret sleep study data to guide treatment selection, including AHI, oxygen desaturation levels, sleep architecture, and body position
2. When oral appliance therapy is the appropriate first-line treatment versus an alternative to CPAP
3. How to determine which type of oral appliance design is most appropriate based on patient anatomy and sleep study severity
4. The role of combination therapy using oral appliances with CPAP, positional therapy, or other interventions
5. How to recognize when myofunctional therapy, orthodontics, or surgical intervention should be considered as adjunctive or primary treatment
6. How to present treatment options to patients in a way that demonstrates your clinical expertise and leads to increased case acceptance

By the end of "Module #5: Interventions - Choices Based On The Data," members will be able to develop individualized treatment plans based on objective data rather than protocol-based approaches. This module significantly increases treatment success rates and patient satisfaction by matching the right intervention to each patient's unique situation.
MODULE 6: Oral Appliance Showcase
Module 6: Oral Appliance Showcase provides a comprehensive overview of oral appliance designs, materials, and selection criteria. This module will feature Dr. Lamberg's proprietary appliance design along with other evidence-based appliance options.
